From Olympia to the Global Market: Showcasing The Takeover Game at the London Toy Fair

There’s no stage quite like the London Toy Fair at Olympia. As the UK’s largest toy, game, and hobby trade show, it is the ultimate proving ground for innovative products and trending tabletop games. For SD Studios, exhibiting here was a defining moment - transitioning from local play-tests to the heart of the global toy industry.

The Grand Arena: Olympia London

The energy at Olympia is electric. Walking into the Upper West Hall under that iconic barrel-vaulted roof, you’re surrounded by over 250 exhibitors, from industry giants like Playmobil and LEGO to creative start-ups. It’s a three-day whirlwind of high-level networking, media coverage, and - most importantly - intense gameplay.

Our Home at the Asobi Stand

We were thrilled to exhibit as part of the Asobi stand, a hub known for "Inspirational, Innovative, and Creative" toys. Nestled among some of the best independent brands in the business, The Takeover Game found its perfect audience of retail buyers and industry influencers.

The Setup: Our display featured the signature navy blue "briefcase" box, which immediately caught the eye of passing journalists looking for the next viral board game.

The Demo: Seeing professional buyers huddle around the board, strategising their first hostile takeover or dodging a market crash, confirmed what we always knew: high-finance strategy is the ultimate high-stakes party game.

Making Headlines and Gaining Traction

The Toy Fair isn’t just about making sales; it’s about establishing brand authority. Exhibiting at Olympia put us face-to-face with major retailers and the national press. It was here that the buzz truly began, leading to the accolades we are so proud of today:

The Telegraph: Endorsed as "one of the best new board games to market."

CityAM: Hailed as the perfect practice for "success in the City."

From the Trade Show to Your Boardroom

Exhibiting at the London Toy Fair allowed us to see firsthand how The Takeover Game bridges the gap between a fun family game night and a serious business simulation. Whether it's college lecturers looking for educational resources or corporate teams using it for innovation seminars, the feedback from the fair helped us refine the experience for every kind of player.
